FTR - COURT REPORTING
What is the FTR Reporter?
What is TheRecord Annotator?
What is the FTR Record Player?
What is TheRecord Director?
The FTR Reporter is an application utilizing technology that operates on a PC in courtroom.
The FTR Reporter records up to four discrete yet synchronized channels of audio from microphones placed around the courtroom. Time-stamped audio is simultaneously recorded to the PC's hard disk and a removable media, such as a CD-R. One CD-R will hold a full day of 4 channel courtroom recording. Any piece of audio can be selected and saved to a removable media or a network drive. Audio can be played directly from a CD or over a LAN, allowing review of the court record from any multimedia PC.
FTR will radically improve productivity on an already well-understood critical success factor - audio recording of court proceedings. And there is no existing means by which you achieve a comparable result.
Just like your current tape recording system, the typical FTR Reporter courtroom setup will have multiple microphones appropriately placed around the courtroom connected to an audio mixer. The microphone/mixer setup can perform commonly required functions such as providing sound to a public address system or muting microphones as need for sidebar conferences. The sound from multiple microphones is mixed down to a desired number of channels, by the mixer and is fed into a PC running FTR Reporter. There, the sound is automatically digitized and stored on the PC's hard drive. If the automatic archive feature is activated, audio is recorded immediately to the removable archive media. Typically the archive media would be a CD-ROM.
The judge, clerk or a dedicated recording monitor can operate the PC in the courtroom. Starting and stopping recording is as simple as operating a tape player. Audio recorded on the PC's hard drive is immediately available for playback, so the user can listen to the recorded audio off the hard drive for 100% confidence that testimony was captured and stored in an audible form. During playback, individual channels can be turned off and on as desired to isolate voices in the courtroom or cut out extraneous noise.
Savings created by improved sound quality, direct/instant access, easier review and distribution of audio, and improved storage are just a few of the compelling reasons courts are buying FTR.

- Lower cost storage and archive.

The FTR Record Player (free - part of package)

TheRecord Player is a FREE program that court administrators, judges, court monitors and clerks, and transcribers can use to review, play back, share and copy audio/video proceedings captured by an FTR recording system-all without fast forwarding or rewinding a single cassette.
Although its audio/video play back features are the most advanced available, TheRecord Player's "tape recorder-style" features are easy to understand and learn. Users have complete control over the audio/video play back process. They can choose to review an entire audio/video proceeding, or select specific, relevant segments. They can also increase or decrease the master volume, or the volume of individual channels, as well as turn individual channels on or off as required.
The FTR Record Player allows you to play audio recorded with FTR Reporter during and after recording. Using the FTR Record Player, you can retrieve and playback audio from any digital media that contains FTR recordings.
You can review and entire day of testimony or go to a specific moment in the recording by entering the desired time. You can also specify any range of audio and save the selected audio to another digital media or network drive.
The single most important benefit of digital recording, and specifically FTR Reporter, is easy and random access to the court record. With FTR Record Player loaded on a PC, and access to a copy of the previously recorded audio, you can search the record and replay recordings or specific portions of a recording with speed and simplicity. FTR Record Player brings the court record right to the court administrator's, judge's or attorney's desk.
It is possible to take portions of the day's recordings and save them to a separate location. This is very useful feature when attorney's or judges wish to review specific areas of a recording at a later date, or for distributing the recordings to various transcription resources.
