You want button A to feature a folder? You want button B to feature time and date? No problem! The Olympus DS-4000 offers the unique possibility to customize the buttons' functions to your requirements. Just ask us ..we will program it for you. It'll only take a few seconds.
The removable Olympus xD-Picture Card generates practically unlimited recordings.
This assures you don't miss a single piece of information. The 32 MB xD-Picture Card which comes with the DS-4000 offers up to 11 hours recording time and nearly 180 hours with the optional 512 MB xD-Picture Card.
Additionally, the new slide switch for professional one thumb operation and USB audio device makes the DS-4000 comfortable for you to use. Once connected to the PC, via the USB interface, the possibilities are greatly enhanced by the Olympus DSS Player Pro software
Whether you need one or seven folders for organizing your notes and dictations, the customizable functions make it possible to minimize and maximize the number of folders, each holding 199 voice files. You can adapt the features of the recorder to suit your personal needs. Other features to help you organize your dictation, include:
- 2 recording qualities in high compression DSS format.
- Up to ten different author IDs, ensuring that both the user and the person transcribing the recording can find the required file quickly and easily.
- The ability to assign up to ten user-defined work types, so that recordings can be sorted thematically.
- Prioritizing tasks by tagging the voice files as "NORMAL" or "HIGH". Priority allocation is possible both while recording and at a later date.
The DS-4000 Really Excels In Large Networks
The DS-4000 really excels in large networks. Using the DSS Player Pro software, voice files can be placed on the network immediately and then processed. The name of the author and work group, the priority of a recording and the status of the files to be written are displayed in an overview, ensuring secure and uncomplicated access to the correct file. This way, information can be quickly and simply retrieved, processed and archived. The DS-4000 can be integrated without difficulty into Mac and most Window PC environments.

DSS Player Pro Software
The heart of the system is the DSS Player Pro Software consisting of two modules.- The Dictation Module - which is the connection between the digital voice recorder and your computer.
The Dictation Module supports:
- Easy file downloading, with auto start.
- Comprehensive information including author ID, time and date, total duration of the recording, priority status and much more.
- Effective organisation thanks to flexible storage in separate folders.
- Direct dictation at your desk.
- Editing of files after downloading to PC.
- Direct sending to a predefined addres (e-mail, MAPI, POP3/SMTP*, FTP*, network).
- Security backup (only with DS-4000/AS- 4000.
- The Transcription Module - which acts as a working tool for the transcriptionist.
The Transcription Module, as counterpart to the dictation module allows:
- Automatic reception of DSS files.
- File and document* management using separate folders and in/out-trays .
- Programmable, automatic processing of voice files and documents*.
- Job status info, e.g. finished/pending/ cancel job.
- E-mail, MAPI, POP3/SMTP*, FTP* and network compatibility
- Managing sender profiles*.
- Encryption function.
